Residency - Creative Curations with Tin Shed Theatre Co.

It was an honour to be awarded a Creative Curations residency* by Tin Shed Theatre in March 2024 - an opportunity to explore my art practice with artist and writer Rufus Mufasa with whom I've had the pleasure working with many times.
We developed ideas surrounding Welsh language, following working together in 2023 on Rufus' 'Swynwraig' project. During our residency, Rufus was going through a lot personally. We reframed the negativity she was experiencing into something empowering, and dare I say it, beautiful.

This residency gave me the chance to test out processes that I had put to one side (an example, a process inspired by textile artist Cas Holmes, see below).

(The process involves pasting textiles together with wallpaper paste, then once dry, free-motion stitch on top)

The 2-week residency gave us a lot of freedom - the usual pressure to deliver a polished outcome was absent, and resulted in delivering new work, which
went beyond our expectations. It even set my art practice on a new path - one of exploring abstract expressionism, mono-printing, and finding my way as I went along.

*Creative Curations call-out is happening again. This time, for performance artists.

I also tested and shared an idea surrounding art and meditation. This is something that I've been working on for many years, inspired by practising yoga consistently since 2014.
I've been delivering and refining this aspect and including it within my art practice -  it's becoming a regular part of my Creative Arts and Wellbeing offer.
There are also some exciting things coming, which I can't wait to share with you at some point!
