30 Minute Portrait Stories – Development

The final week of the show. I was interviewed by the local radio station yesterday – they were intrigued by 30 Minute Portrait Stories and the process behind it. They asked me to write a piece for a blog called The Global Panorama!

Some work in progress. It was a challenge to add stories to the paintings in a way that complimented the earlier drawings. In this one, I went bold by adding a stencil across her face – but the end result is subtle – it's a glaze of pale blue oil paint floating on top.

We didn't want to go for a grid layout, even though it was tempting.

I also love Rokoro, (also reminds me of Andy's work).  I discovered www.rokoro.co.uk at the V&A in the shop, after I saw the fantastic Alexander McQueen exhibition

Since this blog post was published, we were very sad to hear that Andy passed away earlier this year. We miss his energy and creative talent.
